TOUR TO CHILE - JUNE 2006
Lt Col Johnny Wheeler has recently returned from Chile,
where the Cavalry School (Escuela de Equitacion) has invited a team from
the UK to go out and play for a couple of matches in early June.
Before you all comment that it is a long way to go for
a couple of days, Johnny and Charlie Valdes-Scott will already be out
their taking part in a walking expedition. They are looking for two interested
players who would like to join them in Santiago and make up the rest of
the team. Is anybody interested?
The agenda would be something a bit like this: (obviously if people wanted
to extend their trip that would be up to them):
5 June - Meet in Santiago.
6 June - Travel to Cavalry school. Evening stick and ball (S&B), followed
by dinner and accom modationin officers' mess.
7 June - Morning S&B, match in afternoon. Barbecue and accommodation
at Officers' Mess.
8 June - Match in morning. Afternoon return to Santiago.
9 June - Possible game at San Cristobal Club.
There is lots to do in and around Santiago either side of this to fit
in with flights etc. Accommodation in Santiago Military Hotel is cheap
(£15 a night), central and comfortable.
Only cost would be flight (about £750 return via Madrid) and spending
money. The CSPA has offered £200 per head and APOLOA will match
it.
All those interested should contact APOLOA Secretary, Captain Mark Dollar,
as soon as possible. No decisions have been taken on handicaps as yet.
