News from the CSPA
DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

THE CSPA continues to go from strength to strength. The standard of our best team is higher than it has been for many years. We play more fixtures at more venues around the country than ever before, and we are receiving more and more invitations to tour overseas. Great for those involved.

Our key days, packed into a hectic week in July, continue to grow and become more and more popular and are firmly established events in the national polo calendar.

This year's visit of our friends from the Pakistan Army Polo Association - to compete against the CSPA in the Chapple Cup series - is an extension of a renewed reciprocal arrangement between our two military polo associations. I, and three others, were lucky enough to visit Pakistan in March this year. Our hosts gave us the most fascinating and enjoyable tour, which, importantly, included some exciting and highly competitive polo matches.

The CSPA are again indebted to our terrific sponsors – Humayun Mughal from Akhter Computers, who is supporting The Rundle Cup Day and the CSPA Team for a seventh time; Tim Gannon and John Goodman from the United States, who, with the Royal Bank of Scotland, support the Sandhurst day; and, Jim Orde of BAE Systems, who backs the Rundle Cup match. They know how important they are to all the CSPA tries to achieve, and we remain extremely grateful, especially for the manner in which they as sponsors portray themselves.

The CSPA not only does a great deal to support service charities but also helps to maintain and
encourage the game among the military. It’s now accepted that this is a most important role – it was, after all, the military that invented the modern game and brought it to the West. Ultimately, the CSPA exists for the provision of fun through polo.
